Liverpool go in search of recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they welcome Newcastle United to Merseyside on Wednesday evening, although this will be a much tougher test for the Reds than their last fixture.
The Reds kickstarted their season with a ruthless performance in a 9-0 hammering of Bournemouth over the weekend as they avoided making it four games without a victory to start the season, with Roberto Firmino the standout star with two goals and three assists.
But standing in their way of another three points is Newcastle, who remain unbeaten this season following a last-gasp 1-1 draw away to Wolves on Sunday, although they remain without a victory since the opening weekend.
When is Liverpool vs Newcastle?
Liverpool vs Newcastle will kick-off at 8pm on Wednesday, August 31 at Anfield.
The last meeting between these two sides came back in April, when the Reds secured a narrow 1-0 victory over their hosts at St. James’ Park in a Premier League encounter.
Naby Keita’s 19th minute strike proved the be the only goal of the game but it was enough to give Liverpool a valuable three points in the title race, while a much improved Newcastle saw their four game winning streak come to an end.
