Didier Drogba has praised Liverpool transfer target Kylian Mbappe and said ‘we are seeing a bit of Ronaldo Nazário’ about the PSG superstar after he helped France beat Australia 4-1 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
After Saudi Arabia produced one of the shocking results in World Cup history early on Tuesday morning, it probably would have left many people in France worried that they were going to go down a similar road, especially when Australia opened the scoring after Craig Goodwin’s far post finish early in the first half.
But that’s when the world champions turned it on and showcased their attacking might, including Mbappe grabbing an assist and a goal out in Qatar.
The World Cup stage was where Mbappe, when he was a fresh-faced teenager, really announced himself on the big stage, but is he now ready to take that next step in his career at the age of 23?
Premier League Drogba certainly thinks a move could be on the cards for the player, but only before he wins the Champions League in Paris, as he told Match of the Day.
On his performance: “We are seeing a bit of Ronaldo Nazário. We are seeing a bit of (Henry and Anelka).
On him moving from PSG: “I think that’s what we all expect him to do. But I know him a little bit and I know he wants to make a statement by winning the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain. It will mean a lot for him and for the club as well.”

LIVERPOOL AND MBAPPE
Jurgen Klopp will be entering the transfer market during these next two windows looking to refresh his side and bring in a few more superstar players.
“He’s young, but he’s already mature,” said Drogba. “The man is ready to be a superstar already. He’s really embracing this and proving it every weekend.
FSG may well be looking to sell, but could they depart with the biggest statement signing of all or could new owners purchase the club in time for Liverpool to make a Mbappe-like signing?
There has been strong talk recently about the player’s so-called unhappiness in Paris and how he could leave, with Real Madrid and Liverpool always getting a mention.
In terms of Mbappe’s career, there is no doubt that it would take his career and game to the next level, if he were to join either club.
