We’re all excited’: Liverpool player shares the first impressions of his new ‘talented’ 19-year-old teammate

Calvin Ramsay’s debut is on the way and Joe Gomez says there’s excitement at . The Scot has seen an injury disrupt his start.

Liverpool signed Calvin Ramsay in the transfer window, but they didn’t see this start coming. The 19-year-old is yet to feature and couldn’t take part in pre-season because of an injur

That injury didn’t pop-up as serious in the medical, presumably, and everyone has been taken off-guard by his absence. Still, Liverpool are confident enough in Ramsay that both Neco Williams and Conor Bradley left the club in the transfer window, the former permanently and the latter on loan.

Sepp van den Berg, too, was an option that Liverpool felt comfortable loaning out.

That shows Liverpool’s faith in Ramsay – they see him as a true option at right-back once he’s fit. And it sounds as though the players see it that way, too.

Joe Gomez says people are ‘excited’ to see Ramsay finally take to the pitch. While he hasn’t spent too much time around the Scot, Gomez likes what he sees as he explained in an interview for Liverpool’s e-Mag.

Calvin seems like a really down-to-earth lad,” says Gomez. “Obviously, we weren’t able to mix with him in training in pre-season, which was unfortunate, but hopefully he’s nearly there in overcoming that little issue and I think we’re all excited to see him play.

“He’s obviously a talented player, which is he’s at this club, and from what he’s like around the place, he seems a nice, humble lad and we’re looking forward to seeing him getting involved on the pitch.”

Calvin Ramsay’s debut

It was clear from the first links that Ramsay fit well into Liverpool’s style. Their faith in his ability, even without a pre-season, makes plenty of sense.Liverpool Unveil New Signing Calvin Ramsay

We’re just going to hope that this time off is merely the Reds being very careful about their new player, rather than a sign that Ramsay is having significant trouble. The last thing Liverpool need is another injury-prone player.

But all the talk is good. Ramsay hasn’t had much time but early impression have all been good. Now we’ll hope that he can start to make appearances post-interational break. The League Cup tie with Derby County is an obvious start for him, assuming he’s fit.

It shouldn’t be long, then, before we can all join Gomez in his excitement for Ramsay.
