Ben Doak should be called up to Scotland senior squad, pundit claims.
Liverpool teenager Ben Doak should be in the next senior national team squad for Scotland.
That’s the view of former Scottish international goalkeeper Rab Douglas. Writing for The Courier, Douglas suggests that the Liverpool youngster should be involved in the set-up ‘as early as possible.’
Let’s get him [Doak] involved as early as possible. Jurgen Klopp is trusting him to come off the bench in the Premiership [Premier League] and FA Cup so that tells its own story,” said the pundit.
“I don’t want to put too much pressure on a 17-year-old but anybody who watched him make an impact against Wolves the other night can see that he’s a very talented young forward.

Ben Doak Scotland call-up
Sometimes a player comes through who doesn’t need to spend much time in the under-21s. Let’s hope Ben is one of those.”
Having already made his U21 debut for Scotland this season, this could well be a possibility for Doak. The next squad’s are set to be announced in March.
Liverpool’s Scottish revolution continues
Liverpool have had some incredible Scottish players down the years. From Kenny Dalglish through Alan Hansen, Graeme Souness and Billy Liddell, some of the club’s most iconic stars have hailed from North of the border.
But in recent years, those stars have dimmed and then disappeared. Before Andy Robertson’s arrival, Gary McAllister had been the only Scot to make any kind of impact since the 1980’s.
Now, that could be about to change. Robertson is obviously a stalwart by now. National team captain and Liverpool legend, his legacy is already intact.
And in Calvin Ramsay and Doak, the Reds now have two players who will hope to follow a similar trajectory.
Ramsay has had a difficult first season at Anfield so far, with injury severely hampering his progress. The 19-year-old has impressed in his handful of first-team appearances though, earning a Scotland call-up at the end of last year.
But it’s Doak who should be creating the most excitement. His rise through the age groups at Liverpool has been as quick as one of his bursts down the wing. The teenager should get more game time between now and March. Play as he has been and he’s a near certainty for a call-up
