16-year-old winger Trent Kone-Doherty scored his first goals for Liverpool U18s this afternoon, as they beat Manchester United 4-2.
Kone-Doherty, who was signed from Derry City this summer, bagged two first half goals in the win.
The first, as seen on Liverpool FC on Twitter, was taken superbly. Latching onto a long ball from Fabian Mrozek, the Irishman showed great composure by rounding the ‘keeper and slotting home.
A second was added later in the half, as The Reds raced into an early lead. Further goals from Terence Miles and James McConnell sealed the win.

With fellow new signing Ben Doak also impressing since his summer move, Liverpool have an exciting new pairing on either wing.
Caution should be urged to not hype this young man, and Doak, too much. But they’re both already showing why Liverpool were so keen to get them signed up this summer.
In Kone-Doherty’s case, he wasn’t even yet sixteen when he agreed to move to Anfield. Liverpool will hope their proactivity leads to a player they can nurture into a first-team option.
