Three things learned as Liverpool handed double training boost but Mohamed Salah plus two missing

Liverpool’s squad has been training ahead of facing Arsenal at Anfield at the weekend and this is what we spotted, with Thiago and Virgil van Dijk back involved.

Liverpool faces a tricky game with Arsenal this weekend as Jürgen Klopp’s side hosts the Premier League leaders at Anfield — but the Reds have been handed a double boost ahead of the game.

Thiago Alcântara, having been out since the 3-0 defeat to Wolves with a hip issue, was seen training with his teammates, while Virgil van Dijk was also back, having sat out the goalless draw with Chelsea.

However, three first-team stars were not spotted at the AXA Training Centre ahead of the weekend, with an update on their status likely to come from Klopp during his pre-match press conference tomorrow.

This is what Liverpool.com spotted as the Reds trained in Kirkby ahead of taking on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, with plenty of goings on to keep an eye on across the board.

Naby Keïta spotted

Having picked up his latest injury on international duty, there was some suggestion that Keïta had played his final minutes in a Liverpool shirt, but he was seen running outside as the main session took place.

The Guinean still faces a race against time to get more playing time before he departs in the summer (even when fit, he has not featured much lately) but this was a positive step.

Quite where he is up to in his recovery remains to be seen, but given he was not a part of the main session here, it could still be a couple of games away at least.

Absentees including Mohamed Salah

A few players did not appear to be involved in the session, with Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota among them. Joe Gomez was also not seen with his teammates.

That is not to say that any of them are necessarily set to miss the game with Arsenal, though, with a full update to come. They could simply have been training elsewhere, with the ECHO confirming that minor knocks were simply being managed.
