Luis Diaz, pulled one back for the visitors in the 49′ minute but it was more of a mere consolation goal.
The Reds have not been in their best form since the beginning of this season, having won just two matches out of seven matches played in all competitions, with the two wins being in the Premier League.
Their poor form this season could not be unconnected to the fact that the team are suffering from fatigue from the rigorous campaigns that they had over the past two seasons. They have been involved in multiple competitions at a time and it is starting to take a toll on the players as evident from the recurring injuries to the players.
Secondly, the squad has been overused by the German tactician who makes very little addition to the ones he had few seasons ago. Klopp will need to gradually replace some deadwood players in the squad and infuse fresh blood into the team.
The last factor affecting their performance is a low work-rate of the squad; since the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich in the transfer window, the work-rate of the squad has dropped significantly. And if Klopp will solve this problem them he will need to go hunting for a player with a high work-rate when the winter transfer window opens in January.
