RTK VIEW- Everton almost signed ‘special’ 22-year-old this summer, now he could be set to torment Liverpool

Liverpool will need to keep a very close watch over Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus when they meet on Tuesday night.

The Ghanaian scored twice more on Saturday to make it four goals in his last three games. Kudus will be a big threat for Ajax as they look to hurt Liverpool at Anfield.

One of those goals came in the Champions League earlier in the week. The 22-year-old registered two more on Saturday as Ajax put five past Heerenveen.

Kudus is shaping up to one of the stars of Alfred Schreuder’s new look team. Liverpool should be wary of what he can do next week.big threat for Ajax

Kudus missing out on Everton move

If things had been different, Kudus could have been lining up to play Liverpool last weekend at Goodison Park.

As per The Independent, Everton failed in a late bid to bring the young forward to Merseyside this summer.

It’s claimed that the Toffees made a £15m approach for Kudus, which Ajax rejected. According to the report, the Dutch Champions didn’t want to lose Kudus as they are ‘excited about his potential.’

He was hailed as being ‘really special’ by Dutch striker Tom van Weert via Voetbal Primeur upon signing from Danish team Nordsjaelland in July 2020. Despite his promise though, the Ghana international has taken his time to get going in Holland.

But he’s certainly making up for lost time now. Should Kudus continue in the manner in which he’s started this season, he’ll be worth a lot more than £15m next summer.

Liverpool will be hoping that he doesn’t demonstrate that kind of potential at Anfield next week.

The Reds are at a low-ebb defensively. The last thing they’ll want to face is an in-form striker with a bit of a point to prove.

In Kudus though, that’s exactly what they’ll get. Having failed to keep a handle on Napoli dangerman Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last week, they’ll need to shackle another of Europe’s hot prospects a whole lot better at Anfield.
