Report: ‘Talented’ teenager is finally close to making his Liverpool debut

Calvin Ramsay is nearing his Liverpool debut, according to reports. The Scot is yet to appear for the Reds since his summer transfer.

This comes from the Athletic. They report that Calvin Ramsay is now very close to being available for Liverpool.

Ramsay is yet to appear for the Reds, of course, and missed pre-season after arriving from Aberdeen in the summer. An injury noticed during his medical kept him out of action but the right-back is now training properly.

And with that, comes the potential for a debut sometime soon. Liverpool have an incredibly busy six weeks coming up as football as a whole faces a congested schedule ahead of the World Cup. The Reds will play every few days as a result.

That will put a lot of pressure on every first-team player – including Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Scouser is the only recognised senior right-back and without Ramsay, Jurgen Klopp would be forced to overextend him.

Fortunately, it appears Ramsay will be available for selection before long. There are a few games we can highlight for a potential debut, too, with the EFL Cup tie with Derby County and obvious start.

But there’s definitely room for an appearance or two before then. Perhaps, if all goes well, Liverpool could use Ramsay in a Champions League tie against Rangers. They face the Scots next week and the week after that – even just a few minutes would be good for their teenage right-back.

We’re excited to see Ramsay in action, given his obvious talent. It seems that his new teammates are excited, too, with Joe Gome admitting as much. He says the right-back is ‘talented’ and should fit in seamlessly.

“He’s obviously a talented player,” he told LFC. “Which is why he’s at this club, and from what he’s like around the place, he seems a nice, humble lad and we’re looking forward to seeing him getting involved on the pitch.”
