REPORT: MANCHESTER UNITED NOW MAKING FIRST MOVES TO SIGN MIDFIELDER LIVERPOOL SOLD FOR £10.5M

Manchester United want Marko Grujic with the Porto midfielder potentially heading back to England after being sold by Liverpool.

That’s according to Telegraf in Grujic’s native Serbia, as they claim that United are ‘seriously enquiring’ for Grujic’s signature.

It’s noted that Italian side AC Milan are also interested in Grujic this summer.

Still, we have seen many players over the years join the rivals of their boyhood clubs, with career advancement the biggest factor.

Moving from Porto to Old Trafford would be a major step up for Grujic and it would be hard for him to say no if the Red Devils come calling.

It’s easy to forget, but Grujic was actually the first signing of the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool.

Grujic showed major potential at Red Star Belgrade and was being tracked by Europe’s elite.

Klopp’s assistant Zeljko Buvac managed to convince Grujic to join the Reds, who paid £5.1million to secure his signature.

Grujic was tipped as a real talent but his time at Liverpool was somewhat forgettable.

Grujic was only able to make 16 appearances for Liverpool and spent time out on loan at Red Star, Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin.

A final loan move materialised in 2020 as Grujic joined Porto, who turned the move permanent for £10.5million in 2021.

The 26-year-old isn’t exactly a nailed-on starter for Porto, starting 11 league games this season and making seven substitute appearances.

A move to United would feel a little surprising but Liverpool may well stand to make some money here if they placed a sell-on clause into Grujic’s Porto switch.
