Report: Five Liverpool players take an extra step to help Darwin Nunez settle at Anfield

Five Liverpool players have taken an extra step to help Darwin Nunez settle at the club, according to reports. The 23-year-old is improving.

This comes from the Athletic. They claim that five Liverpool players are going out of their way to help Darwin Nunez settle at Liverpool.

Alisson Becker, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, Thiago and Adrián are the quintet who invite Nunez and his family out to their social gatherings. The Uruguayan doesn’t yet speak English, making his integration into the squad quite tricky.

For instance, Nunez still relies on Liverpool coaches Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos to translate Jurgen Klopp’s briefings. Without them, the 23-year-old wouldn’t know what the boss wants him to do.

But Liverpool’s Spanish and Portuguese-speaking players are sure to help, it seems. They’re doing all they can to get Nunez used to life on Merseyside, even while he’s still learning English.

Darwin Nunez starting to settle

Speaking English will be a massive landmark for Nunez and one that will inevitably transform his game. The fact that he’s already contributing without it only goes to show the incredible potential here, then.

And these five Liverpool players play a massive role in that. They’re making sure Nunez is comfortable at the club as the only players who really can. They’re established, they’re successful, and they’ll hope the striker can follow them down that path.

Alisson, in fact, talked just yesterday about Nunez adapting. He doesn’t want anyone underestimating how difficult it is to adapt when you don’t speak the language. And Nunez speaks even less English than he did.

Fortunately, he’s willing to see the situation like that and help out. There’s little doubt that the coaching staff will be grateful.

Give it a few more months and hopefully, we’ll really see the best from Nunez as he’s settled.
