Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing Calvin Ramsay after his injury.
The right-back has been out of action for a little while now after suffering a litany of injuries since signing for the Reds at the weekend, but now, he’s ready to return to action.
Ramsay did come off the bench for Liverpool’s U21s to score on Tuesday evening, and Klopp says that the player is completely back in full training and ready to return to action.
RAMSAY BACK FIT
Klopp spoke about the defender after his injury.
“Calvin is completely back in full training,” Klopp said.
“He had a little setback, he had a bit on the ankle so we had to keep him out, but now ready for the under-21s at the weekend, which would be absolutely great.”
Ramsay is far from the most important player at Liverpool, but this is still a boost for the Reds.
Liverpool have had a few issues at right-back as of late. Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered with injuries and bad form, and while James Milner was immense against Manchester City at the weekend, his natural position is in the midfield.
Ramsay’s return just gives Liverpool one less thing to worry about. It allows them a lot more chance to rotate at full-back and if the worst does come to the worst and they pick up injuries in that position, they will have an understudy to call upon from now on.
Of course, that’s just about the here and now, Ramsay is still only 19 years old with bags of potential, and while he may not usurp Trent Alexander-Arnold anytime soon, he could go on to become a star in his own right as he matures and hits his prime.
