Liverpool released a photo from the AXA Training Centre earlier today which sparked fans into a panic over Darwin Nunez.
The Reds attempted to get supporters into the festive spirit on Christmas Eve with a squad photo from the AXA Training Centre, where Jürgen Klopp and the players donned Santa hats in front of the cameras.
However, there was one notable absence, which many people are talking about.
Well, as aforesaid, there is panic about the whereabouts of Nunez, with many fearing that the Uruguay international has now joined the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the treatment room.
The South American played in the 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat against Manchester City on Thursday, but was nowhere to be seen among others who partook in that game such as Mohamed Salah, Harvey Elliott and Joel Matip.
As a result, plenty of Liverpool fans are worried that Nunez was either receiving treatment for an injury while the picture was taken, or had already been sent home because of one.
Whatever the reason, it is certainly interesting that the 23-year-old was absent.
LIVERPOOL CAN’T AFFORD TO BE WITHOUT NUNEZ
While the striker may have frustrated plenty of Liverpool fans with his missed chances against Manchester City on Thursday, Klopp cannot afford to be without Nunez having already lost Jota and Diaz.
The £64m man is a real outlet for Liverpool, and while he failed to get on the scoresheet at the Etihad Stadium, his runs in behind caused chaos, with one leading to him grabbing an assist for Mohamed Salah.
If Nunez really is injured, Klopp will have an alarming lack of options for the visit to Aston Villa on Boxing Day, with Roberto Firmino also likely to miss the game.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as an update should emerge soon.
