Liverpool transfer news: Jürgen Klopp is reportedly a big fan of a $37m Juventus man, while the Reds are also supposedly among the teams to have scouted an Ajax star.
Liverpool needs to make changes in the summer and several names are going to be linked with moves to Anfield as a result, even if the top targets might be more obvious.
That is not to say that others beyond the likes of Jude Bellingham might not be required — if the Borussia Dortmund man arrives, he cannot be the only new face — but Liverpool must prioritize with so many things to do.
Roberto Firmino is set to depart at the end of his deal but the ECHO reports that the Reds are unlikely to sign a replacement, with the midfield the overwhelming priority for a revamp for this summer.
Jürgen Klopp’s side might also need to think about signing a central defender with Joël Matip and Joe Gomez desperately out of form, and the former out of contract in 2024.
But there is no doubt that the first thing that must be found is reliable replacements for the exiting Naby Keïta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with that duo set to leave without bringing in a transfer fee.
Mohammed Kudus (Ajax)
Liverpool is among a number of sides around Europe to have sent scouts to watch highly-rated Ajax attacking midfielder or forward Mohammed Kudus, according to 90Min.
They report that Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Napoli, AC Milan, Inter, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich are all also watching him closely and have all sent scouts to check Kudus out, so there could be plenty of competition for his signature.
Liverpool.com says: Kudus is clearly a talented player, but having only just signed Cody Gakpo, Liverpool may not need someone to play centrally in attack. Kudus can also play in midfield, but there are likely to be more options ahead of the 22-year-old on the priority list, even if the Ghanaian is a talented player.
Manuel Locatelli (Juventus)
Liverpool is taking a look at Juventus and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli, according to Calciomercato, who report that the Reds are keen on signing him as a midfield option in the summer.
Locatelli moved to the Serie A giants in 2021 and impressed for his country at Euro 2020 as they won the tournament, but has never taken the next step in his career for his club side.(Image: Photo by Daniele Badolato – Juventus FC/Juventus FC via Getty Images)
Valued at around $37m (£31m/€35m), he would not cost a fortune but there are also Bellingham, Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes who would perhaps be more exciting names for Liverpool fans to look forward to.
Liverpool.com says: A move could be a wise decision for him to reignite his career and get back on track as one of the most highly-rated players in his position around Europe, with his reputation having stalled somewhat lately. But there will likely be a few ahead of Locatelli in the queue of possible signings for Liverpool in the summer.
