Jose Enrique has claimed on his Instagram story that Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes is his ‘ideal’ transfer summer signing alongside Jude Bellingham.
The former Liverpool left-back was asked which three players he wants the Reds to sign, and he named Nunes alongside the highly sought-after, Bellingham.
Now, whilst fans dream of a Bellingham arrival, in truth, with FSG sitting at the top of the tree, they might not get their wish.
For how long have the club needed midfielders? It’s probably been a good few years now since they should have refreshed the middle of the park, but they haven’t.
The fact that they signed Arthur Melo on a loan deal from Juventus in the summer, and that after a late u-turn, but not a big name, says it all, from the perspective of the owners.
Nonetheless, it hasn’t stopped Liverpool fans from dreaming and this is what Enrique had to say:
Ideal? Bellingham, Nunes and another one. But I haven’t decided on that one just yet,” said Enrique.
NUNES MORE REALISTIC
Given the number of elite clubs, such as Real Madrid, that will be gunning for Bellingham, on top of the transfer fee that will need to be paid, you can probably rule out Liverpool signing the English midfielder in the summer.
But Wolves’ 24-year-old star is probably a more realistic option, not just because he could be relegated this season, but also because he is playing for a non-elite team.
Whatever does or doesn’t happen, that midfield needs refreshing because there have been too many issues this term.
