Liverpool ⚽ update: Klopp gives debut to ‘extraordinary’ talent: Early predicted Liverpool lineup vs Napoli

Here’s our early predicted Liverpool lineup to face Napoli on Wednesday evening. We expect an Arthur debut in Italy.

The Premier League isn’t really working out for Liverpool this season. Let’s see if the Champions League is any better.

The Reds travel to take on Napoli this week as they attempt to go one better in the competition than last season. It’s a Napoli side in decent form, too – they’ve found some very useful new players.

Liverpool, on the other hand, aren’t quite clicking. In fact, they look tired from game to game and we’re expecting a few changes for this one.

With that in mind, here’s our early predicted lineup for Liverpool vs Napoli.

Defence

Alisson Becker will be in goal, of course. Caominhín Kelleher isn’t even back from injury yet, making this one an obvious selection. We expect both Andy Roberton and Trent Alexander-Arnold at full-back, too, as neither played the full 90 minutes in the derby.

Liverpool have a decision at centre-back, though. Joel Matip is the fresh man, so we see him coming in for Joe Gomez. Gomez could use a rest after playing his most regular football for two years. Virgil van Dijk pretty much has to play alongside Matip.

We think Jurgen Klopp might change the Liverpool formation here, as he did late on against Everton. We’re expecting a two-man holding role, seeing both Fabinho and Arthur Melo in there.

Liverpool desperately need better passing through the defensive lines and Arthur can certainly provide that. His ‘extraordinary’ quality could be a big boost for the Reds.

Roberto Firmino is our pick as the no.10 in a 4-2-3-1. It means Harvey Elliott dropping out but the teenager has played so often lately that he could use it. We’d put him back in against Wolves.

Attack

It makes sense to us for Klopp to persist with Mohamed SalahLuis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. The three of them feel so close to clicking and the change of formation could get them closer to that.

Besides, Diogo Jota is unlikely to be ready just yet – he can be the option off the bench. Maybe he even comes in to face Wolves at the weekend.
