In one way’ – Leandro Trossard makes Liverpool admission after hat-trick in Brighton draw

Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw with Brighton in the Premier League with Leandro Trossard scoring a hat-trick at Anfield.

Brighton star Leandro Trossard has explained his motivation behind his form against Liverpool after his recent hat-trick.

The Reds dropped another two points in the Premier League clash against Brighton as they were held to a 3-3 draw in their first match back after the international break. Roberto Firmino scored a brace, with an Adam Webster own goal giving Liverpool a third, but the Reds could not hold on for a win.

A Trossard hat-trick prevented Liverpool from securing all three points. He put Brighton 2-0 up in the first half, before equalising in the latter stages of the contest.

Trossard has now scored five goals in his seven appearances against Liverpool. He was also on the scoresheet in the 2-2 draw at Anfield last season.

Speaking after the match, Trossard has admitted that he tries to “show himself” more in big games against the likes of Liverpool.

“I love all fixtures,” Trossard told Sky Sports. “Obviously it’s a big game and you always want to show yourself in the best possible way.

“Hopefully I can carry this form on, but I’m happy with the team after we reacted brilliantly after we went 3-2 down and it’s up to them as well.”

Trossard added: “It’s always nice if you can score three, especially at Anfield. It’s a shame we couldn’t get the three points, but we are still happy with a point.

Both Liverpool and Brighton held the lead at different points during the match. Despite the visitors being 2-0 up inside the opening half-hour, Trossard admitted that it was fair for the points to be shared.

When asked if a draw was the fair result, Trossard said: “Maybe in one way, but we could have scored more and maybe the draw is quite fair.

“But you always want more, especially if you are 2-0 up. At the end we should be happy with a point, and it was a great performance from us.”
