Liverpool fancy Jamal Musiala but they may end up facing competition from rivals Manchester City, whilst Bayern Munich don’t want to sell.
It has felt pretty clear for a while now that Liverpool have a big target in mind for the 2023 summer window.
Resisting temptation to sign a midfielder this past summer – instead signing alone in Arthur Melo – was a pretty obvious indication.
It looks like Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is the man Liverpool want, but they may need backup targets in mind.
LIVERPOOL FANCY JAMAL MUSIALA
Bayern Munich star Musiala has suddenly emerged as a potential target.
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that that Liverpool are interested in signing Musiala as they consider other options just in case Bellingham doesn’t join.
Musiala, 19, has been sensational this season with seven goals and eight assists in 13 outings across all competitions.
Born in Stuttgart but brought up in England from the age of seven, Musiala could have played for the Three Lions – or even Nigeria or Poland – but chose Germany.
A technically-gifted playmaker, Musiala appears to be on a path to stardom and has been one of Bayern’s most impressive players this season.
Liverpool may well fancy luring Musiala to Anfield but achieving that task seems like a very big ask.
Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast report that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has taken a liking to Musiala.
After City took on Bayern in pre-season, it’s suggested that Guardiola used intermediaries to communicate to Musiala that he admires him.
City are in the Bellingham race too and it may well be that they – just like Liverpool – view Musiala as a backup target.
However, the report adds that Bayern view a Musiala sale as almost impossible as they want to build around him for the future.

Any ideas of bringing Musialia to the Premier League may need to be shelved for the foreseeable future with little chance of convincing Musiala to sell.
