Diogo Jota fears for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp gives update on injury he ‘wished he didn’t have to talk about’

Diogo Jota was stretchered off injured in the dying moments of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Man City at Anfield.

 

Liverpool are waiting to discover the extent of the Diogo Jota’s latest injury amid fears the forward may face another spell on the sidelines.

 

Jota collapsed to the floor holding his right leg before departing on a stretcher deep into additional time of the 1-0 Premier League win over Manchester Cit y at Anfield on Sunday.

 

The Portugal international was absent for the first six weeks of the season after suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury in July.

 

And the 25-year-old will now undergo scans to ascertain the seriousness of the problem, and is already a major doubt for Wednesday’s visit of West Ham United.

 

Diogo, I wish I didn’t have to talk about it,” said Klopp. “I saw it on sideline on the screen, I saw that he went down and there wasn’t a lot of contact.

 

“You can see a little bit that someone kicks his foot and maybe the muscle got a little bit overstretched.

 

“After 96 minutes, that’s not good for a muscle and he felt it immediately and now we have to wait to find out how bad it is.”

 

There was some good injury news for Liverpool, though, with Trent Alexander-Arnold fit enough to come off the bench for the closing moments against City having missed the midweek Champions League win at Rangers with an ankle problem.
